In the past month our team has been actively reviewing recent developments in the global office furniture market - with a focus on what major players are doing and how we can adapt. For example, Steelcase recently announced strong Q1 results with revenue up 7 % year-on-year, driven by large corporate customers. At the same time MillerKnoll declared it will eliminate added PFAS chemicals from its North American portfolio starting May 2025.
From these cases we drew several key take-aways. First: the demand for ergonomic, high-quality seating tied to corporate workspace redesign is real and growing. Second: sustainability commitments and material transparency are no longer optional - they are expected. Third: supply chain pressures (tariffs, materials costs) are happening and companies are scrambling to adjust.
Internally, we have started a new learning initiative for our product and sourcing teams. Over the next quarter we will:
- Map out competitor product lines (including Steelcase's "Gesture" chair, acknowledged for ergonomic innovation)
- Review how MillerKnoll's PFAS-free commitment might guide our material sourcing and marketing story
- Audit our own supply chain to identify tariff risks and explore alternative material suppliers
- Integrate findings into upcoming prototype designs, focusing on comfort, durability and environmental credential
We believe that by combining the best practices of industry leaders with our own manufacturing strengths and global sales network, we will be in a stronger position to meet overseas partner needs and respond to shifting workplace demands.
